Improvement of microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance of WE43 alloy by squeeze casting

The WE43 magnesium alloy was prepared by squeeze casting, and the influence of casting parameters on mechanical properties corrosion resistance studied compared with gravity casting. cast shows uneven grain size distribution, some grains even greater than 90 µm. While, is mainly distributed in 20–50 Mg12Nd2Y phase morphology changes from large lamellar to strips after whereas Mg24Y5 exhibits no obvious change. yield strength, tensile elongation are 127 MPa, 157 6%, respectively, 145 193 9.1% for alloy. For alloy, average rate 0.6056 mm·year−1 according immersion test results, electrochemical measurements, current density 78.13 µA·cm−2, which better that Compared second refined, improved. This may expand applications
